I love herbs. Every summer I grow an entire garden just for fresh herbs. They make foods taste so fresh and flavorful. However, sometimes fresh herbs are not always available during off seasons or you don’t have time to pick the herbs, wash them, and chop them before using. Therefore, dried herbs are the next best thing. Last year when I was trying to lose weight for my wedding, I came up with this herb blend to put on my salads just to give them a little extra flavor. I shake all of the herbs together and keep them in a sealable bowl in my spice cabinet for easy access. I still use this blend on almost every salad I eat at home and I also use it for different meats and vegetables I cook. It goes well with just about anything!
- 2 tablespoons dried basil
- 2 tablespoons dried oregano
- ½ tablespoon dried rosemary
- ½ tablespoon garlic powder
- ½ tablespoon onion powder
- ½ tablespoon dried sage
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried red pepper flakes
Pour all herbs and spices into a sealable bowl. Place the lid on and shake until blended together. Sprinkle on anything you desire!
